Digital Minds was founded in 2002 by current CEO, Joseph P. Fiduccia, who while in college became fascinated with emerging self-service technologies just shy of the new millennium. As an early adopter and pioneer in the world of digital signage, the company’s initial proprietary solution was TouchQuest®, an interactive application that connected hotels with local businesses in conjunction with travel-related information and services. During these earlier stages of the company, Digital Minds provided augmented listing services (similar to the yellow-pages, but digital) and ultimately helped bridge the gap between local businesses, hoteliers and customers, supporting an ecosystem of tourism and hospitality in major metropolitan markets. In 2004, Digital Minds began working with Hyatt Hotels, including Hyatt Regency O’Hare – a premier hotel in the Chicago / O’Hare market, installing the hotels first Digital Signage Display application on property which incorporated Hotel Marketing with Live TV, not analog. Initial Clients also included Starwood Hotel Group, now Marriott.
During the 2007-2009 economic recession when advertising spending slashed, Digital Minds shifted business models and services, sprouting into one of the first SaaS Digital Signage companies to carve a niche in hospitality. In 2010, Digital Minds helped Carlson Rezidor Group (now Radisson) open Radisson Blu Aqua Chicago Hotel with several guest-facing technologies throughout the property. A short time later, Digital Minds equipped Radisson Blu Mall of America with a state-of-the-art deployment for their newest flagship hotel, which included IPTV and Custom Mirror Polished Enclosures that still make a statement today. Around this time, Digital Minds Inc. provided a Global Brand Standard Front Desk Display Technology which would be managed remotely across a major hotel chain, utilizing hotel WI-FI for connectivity. This simple but powerful hardware-software package was implemented throughout all of North America and the Asia Pacific Region.
As the SaaS Business and Managed Services model began to grow in hospitality, so did the advancements in the industry such as large format displays, data integration, portal driven software, real-time data, event services, CMS capabilities, POE technology, ADA compliance and more. During this period of industry growth and evolution in terms of Smarter, Lighter and more Energy Efficient solutions, Digital Minds has always remained at the forefront through the convergence of technologies that comingle Digital Signage with Hospitality. In the late 1st Qtr. of 2020, the hospitality industry experienced an abrupt halt as a result of the Pandemic, Gov shutdowns, Social Distancing, and Flight Restrictions. Despite a significant dip in business activity caused by the unprecedented breakdown in hotel travel and guest-related services, Digital Minds focused on preservation of client relationships and offered COVID relief to hundreds of properties during the most difficult of times and remained solvent. Today, Digital Minds continues to evolve and position the company, clients and partner-success well into the future. With valuable knowledge, industry experience and an amazing team of specialists, Digital Minds is strategically positioned to impact a variety of business operations.
Digital Minds now offers additional technology products and services, including Camera Technology, Installation, Low Voltage Cabling, and more to better fulfill the needs of our clients, as a one-stop resource. In addition to Digital Minds’ core hospitality business, the company operates a Digital Out-of-Home Media division that draws the company back to its roots of connecting Host Partners and Digital Advertising Networks with Major Brands and Local Businesses.
